Book Review of "Radical Together" by David Platt

I had a great deal of anticipation built up for this book when I first heard about it. I was really excited and couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. I had read the initial book Radical and was completely taken in by it. Unfortunately the book did not live up to my high expectations. One thing stuck out right from the beginning, if you did not read Radical then there was no point on reading Radical Together. This book builds on the foundation of the first without laying any groundwork in itself. If you have not read Radical, you must find it and read it first. Now don’t get me wrong, this book has some great points and is worth the read, but it does not live up to its predecessor. David Platt establishes from the beginning six points, and each chapter addresses a point. The book revolves around the idea of the church body and seems to be directed at leadership within the church body rather than the individual. If you enjoyed the first book and you are leadership within your church then I think that Radical Together is worth your time. There are a number of testimonies from reader’s experience with the first book. One thing I find lacking throughout though is the use of story and example to aid in the reader’s understanding. It is not a very big book so it won’t take you long to read, but it can get kind of dry so you need to enjoy reading. Overall this book was not all it was hyped up to be and is about an average quality read. Download the first chapter here Radical Together
